Choi Kwang Do (The Art of Grandmaster Choi), is a dynamic, innovative approach to martial arts training that is now recognised as the fastest growing martial art in the world.
Founded by Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi 9th Degree Black Belt, Choi Kwang Do is the culmination of Grandmaster Choi's more than 50 years of training and teaching the martial art.
Choi Kwang Do is based on TRADITIONAL MARTIAL ARTS philosophy that emphasises the ideal of personal and social development being paramount, rather than sports competition.
The development of good manners, courtesy, self-discipline, self-confidence and good social adjustment can be considered primary objectives of this art, along with self defence. |
 |
Many of the traditional martial arts movements are difficult to learn and unrealistic in actual self defence, even though they look very impressive. There can also be long term negative effects to the body of the practitioner. Grandmaster Choi therefore consulted with American scientists and experts in bio mechanics, kinestheology, psychology and pyschoneuro-immunology in order to validate his theories and concepts. Thus enabling him to develop a system of self-defence which allows its practitioners to deliver more powerful and effective punches, kicks and strikes, while reducing the risk of stressful hyper-extension injuries.
Choi Kwang Do movements are EASY TO LEARN and are VERY EFFECTIVE. From your very first lesson your techniques are STREET ORIENTATED, (Choi Kwang Do has been called "The Art of Street Fighting"), and more importantly, SAFE.

Children are our future. Our goal as a martial arts institute is to train children to defend themselves against actual physical attack, and to better prepare them to cope with the pressures and problems of growing up.
Recent research at the University of Akron Ohio, has shown that those children who study martial arts gain, not only the ability to defend themselves, but also: |
- Improved motor skills
- More stamina
|
- Better co-ordination
- Increase in self-confidence
|
|
We also aim to instill the tenets of Choi Kwang Do which are: |

|
- HUMILITY
- HONESTY
- GENTLENESS
- PERCIVERENCE
- SELF CONTROL
- UNBREAKABLE SPIRIT
